Our Story

Why here? Why now?

The testimony of how the Lord started Calvary Chapel Star is unique and must be told in a way where only God gets the glory. This is not something that a group of people planned out, or an idea that someone came up with. Rather, it is a God-initiated endeavor to build His Kingdom, equip His saints, and see the lost come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

It would be more than three years of praying, seeking, and waiting on the Lord, but the spark that would begin to stir pastor David and his family to step out in faith, teach and preach God's Word, and magnify the name of Christ was unexpectedly planted in August of 2018.

While the Lord made the calling to plant a new church clear, and through prayer and fasting identified the city of Star as the location, it wouldn't be until after the COVID season that God's timing would be revealed. In the fall of 2021, David and Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills met, prayed, and began to discuss what the Lord was doing. Over the next six months, the Lord would confirm through Scripture, God-ordained connections and conversations, and miraculous provision that this church plant was not a man-made idea, but a work that God had planned that was to be walked in (Ephesians 2:10).

With the love, support, and backing of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, monthly prayer meetings were being held in Eagle, Meridian, Nampa, and Star. In just four months the group of eight would grow to more than 100 people committed to gathering together to pray over the baby church that was about to be born.

Only God knows the magnitude of what He wants to do and who He wants to reach, but we are fully confident in the Lord's promise that "eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has planned for those who love Him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). We are committed to seeking the Lord, growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and unashamedly preaching the uncompromised, full counsel of God's Word.

Acts 2:46-47

"So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
